Why we built it
A backup should remain useful after it is created
Important conversations, unsaved numbers, group-member details and supported media can be difficult to preserve in one organized place. Restore backups are valuable for returning data to WhatsApp, but they are not designed as a readable business archive.
WABak focuses on what happens after data is saved: checking a conversation, finding a record, reviewing contacts, preserving group information and exporting the supported data needed for an authorized workflow.

Clear limits help users choose the right combination of official restore backups and readable local records.
- Completed core WABak backup records are stored on the computer running the desktop client.
- WABak cannot retrieve messages, contacts, group records or media that were never successfully backed up.
- WABak does not read, repair or restore encrypted Google Drive or iCloud WhatsApp backups.
- HTML, Excel and media exports are external records and cannot be restored into WhatsApp by WABak.
